Help with Hallway Decoration!

May 18, 2018

In today's blog be are going to cover what to do to spice up a long hallway.  This Design Dilemma is coming from dulse6597 from the Houzz app.

I'm looking for help decorating the hallway of our century home. Painting the wood is NOT an option - my husband won't allow it. I have three small children and a limited budget. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Our design solution is to add something interesting at the end of the long hallway, something interesting to look at while going towards that wall.  I suggest a bench if there is room with an attractive pillow and a large piece of art above the bench.

Ep 1- Decorate a Long Hallway

Items to complete this design:

Butler Bench $499      Leftbank Art $360    Surya Pillow- $45         Surya Rug $175

In selecting the above items I first searched for a bench.  I love the lines on this piece.  It is a simple design and the cherry is similar to the trim.  The "X" design gives it a level of interest with out going over board, very classic design.  The open bottom keeps a light & airy feeling to this bench.  Then I searched for the wall art.  This is the WOW piece that going to hold all of the elements together.  It is going to draw you down the hallway.  The coloring in this piece gives the homeowner many options as far as paint colors and other design accessories.  Purples can be used, a variety of blue tones, browns.  This piece will compliment many design styles and colors schemes.  The pillow is a geometric pattern with complementary colors to the red/orange under tones in the cherry wood in the bench and also the trim. The blue in the pillow also compliments the sunset orange in the wall art. The geometric pattern gives a light-hearted, playful pop of interest to go along with the wall art.  The rug is a soft, subtle pattern who play in this part is to give way to the excitement at the end of the hallway.  Everything build off of the WOW element.

Happy Designing!
